Caspian Complex Environmental Monitoring Administration of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has carried out 1427 ecological monitoring in 2010 participating 4 in open sea organized on the sector of Caspian sea belonging to Azerbaijan, on the shore-strip of 955,08 kilometer (from the north to the south), on the beach areas, as well as in the institutions and objects functioning on the sea, on the floating means and on the open areas upon determined coordination.
The purpose of monitoring was, by analyzing and investigating, to obtain information on impact of all types of waste (liquid, gas, solid, and etc) to sea water, flora and fauna as well as water objects formed in institutions that operate in the sea and the coastalzone and have anthropogenic impact, directly or indirectly (collector, channels, river and etc), to the Caspian sea and achieve the implementation of measures to minimize their impact.
During monitoring 4045 water, 178 ground, 6 drilling mud and 8 sludge samples have been taken. 21951 analytical, 9896 biological and ecotoxical, 6286 microbiological a total of 38133 have been explored. At the same time, a number of different organizations belonging to 36 biological and disinfectant devices investigated the situation and strict environmental controls were applied.
299 streams related to the Caspian Sea have been noted during the implemented monitoring and therefore those streams exert anthropogenic impact on the sea as the result of 268 institutions and objects functioning on shore and 31 institutions and objects functioning on the sea area. The relevant analyses have been regularly carried out on those samples taken from the streams.
Despite a number of research activities carried out in accordance with the office work plan for the period of 2010, destroying of hydrotechnical applications and piers useless for exploitation and shipping to shore, hoisting sunken and half sunken ships from Baku bay, as well as abolishment of old oil wells from the bay, carrying out of recultivation and greening works in oily polluted areas in Bibiheybat bay, establishment of new waste water purifier in Neft Dashlari and Cilov islands resort and beach areas to the north and south of the Caspian Sea's rich coastal strips of the lack of a centralized sewage networks, as well as forming waste (liquid, gas, solid, etc.) as a control in has not been observed.
477 water samples were taken from the water purifier applications, installed in the regions of the Republic in order to supply the needs of the population to safe drinking water in the settlements along the Kura Aras rivers and 570 analytical, 186 ecotoxical, 2385 microbiological analysis was carried out on them.
According to the measures mentioned in “on Artistic measures about protection of the Caspian Sea from pollution” by Presidential Decree № 2244 dated June 20, 2007 regular monitoring supervision has been carried out on the plants put into operation the analyses have been carried out on the samples taken from exit of plants to the sea and the information on their quality indicators have been delivered to the concerned organs of the Ministry.
With the participation of other institutions of the Ministry, Kura River, its branches and delta as well as the ability to discharge water have been studied and the results were submitted to the relevant Executive Authority.
By the year 2010 Caspian Complex Environmental Monitoring Administration of the coastal strip of the Caspian Sea, water area, as well as environmental problems have been registered in all regular bulletins and distributed to the relevant executive structures.
In addition, environmental conditions of Baku Bay were studied, as well as based on a regular control conducted on Hovsan Aeration Station cleaning of the waste water within the norm and discharging to the Caspian Sea was achieved in 2010.
Joint monitoring together with experts of Hygiene and Epidemiology Center of the Ministry of Health based on agreed schedule was conducted in the coastal strip of territory along the beach of Absheron Peninsula and water samples were taken from different fields, laboratory examinations were carried out on them. According to the laboratory analyzes the amount of intestinal bacteria Waste water treatment plants installed in the modular common result of the microbiological point of view, the offshore areas, the amount of within the norms have been established. And according to the joint monitoring conducted the beach areas excluding Sahil district of Garadagh, Shikh district of Sabail and Sumgayit beaches were useful.
In addition, with regard to celebration of "International Maritime Day 2010” with joint participation of middle and high school students and student groups of local government structures, housing and communal services and construction unions, business and organizations a day of voluntary unpaid labour was conducted in the last day of September 2010 along the strip of coastal settlements Buzovna, Bilgah.
