Regional and local, large- and small-scale geological planning works have considerable importance in the geological investigation of the earth interior, in exploration of its stratigraphy, tectonics, magmatism, and structure, in determination of the spread regularity of the widely spread minerals and their industrial-genetic types, and in whole, estimation of the mineral perspectives of territory, and also its sensibility towards different exogenous geological processes.
- As a result of the geological and geophysical planning works with the coverage of 1:200000 the general geological, structural, metallogenic, mineral spread regularities of the Republic territory, maps of the geophysical and geochemical anomalies, tectonomagmatic maps wre compiled, completed and specified.
- The 1:50000-scale planning works in the regions of The Great and Small Caucasus (also in the Mountainous Talish, Nakhchivan ) are about to be over.
- The 1:50000-scale special geophysical works (gravity measurements) are keeping on with the purpose of limitation of the hyeracid magmatic complexes discovered in the Shaki-Gabala fault of The Great Caucasus region.
- Along with the 1:50000-scale general search, in the south-eastern zone of The Great Caucasus – in the area of 400 square kilometers of Alat-Bandovan section, geological planning works are keeping on, but in the area of 390 square kilometers of Yashma section ( the Western Caspian zone ) the 1:50000-scale planning works have been completed. In the quartz sounds of the Alat-Bandovan section a 0,0016-0,01 % molybdenum, and also the derivative anomalous zones of a 0,025 % molybdenum were discovered. In the terrigen sedimental rocks of the Sumgayit layer in the Yashma section, manganin anomalous area was separated.
- The 1:50000-scale geological planning works in the area of 600 square kilometers of the Dashuz zone of the Adjinohur geological section were completed, in the result of lithochemical testing to Mn( 0,3 – 0,8 % ), Mn( 0,003 – 0,008 % ) the weak anomalous areas were separated.
- Along with the general search, the 1:50000-scale planning works in the Burovar section in the North of the Mountainous Talish are being carried out. In the current year the planning works with the coverage of  200 square kilometers have been carried out, still the affirmative result for the ore minerals has not been got.
- In order to discover local areas, displays and beds of ore in the ore-perspective high mountains of the Tufan area of The Great Caucasus and the Kapaz area of The Small  Caucasus, within the territories of 194 and 200 square kilometers correspondingly the 1:25000-scale planning works with the accompany of the general geological, geophysical search are being conducted. During the current year in the area of 30 square kilometers in the Tufan section the planning works have been carried out, 0,012-0,016 % of molybdenum was determined from the testing of the Shahnabatchay’s sediments. In the 40 square kilometers of the Kapaz section, the 1:25000-scale mapping and searching works was kept on. Here, from lithochemical testing were gotten the high derivatives of molybdenum out of clar.

- In order to appreciate the perceptiveness of minerals of the territory of the Republic, geological explorations are carried out according to new geological theories and ore formations determined in recent years.
