These investigations  are aimed at preparing of suggestions in order to study, prognosticate and prevent the exogenous geological processes (landslides, abrasion, ravine creation,   displacement  and so on) causing a great damage to settlements, various economic objects and infrastructures  in the territory of the Republic, studying of hydrochemical and hydrodynamic characters of underground waters and the substances which soil them, carrying out of 1:200000 scale hydrogeological and 1:50000 scale engineer-geological planning works.
Studying of exogenous geological processes (EGP). The most spread type of exogenous geological processes in the territory of the Republic is landslide. There are of the territories which are exposed to  landslides is more than 8000 km2 and the number of the settlements situated here is more than 1300.
Exogenous geological processes are widely spread in Nakchivan AR, Lerik, Yardimli, Jalilabad, Ismayilli, Shamakhi, Aghsu, Davachi, Ghakh, Khizi, Gobustan, guba, Gusar, Shaki, Zagatala, Mingachevir, Gadabay, khanlar, Dashkasan districts, Absheron peninsula and in the territory of Baku city. Time from time waterlog, slides,  land sunken, eolation processes,  abrasion of the shores, ravine creation and other cases occur in the territory of Absheron peninsula and cause great damage to the state and the population.
The main functions of the works on studying of creation situation, regime and dynamics of EGP:
-Organization of the monitoring (private supervision system on the development regime of EGP), prognostication with consideration of natural and technogenic factors, preparation of the suggestions on elimination of negative influences to environment;
-Influence to the geological environment and appreciation of the activity;
-Studying and appreciation of the degree and character of anthropogenic activity to the development of EGP;
-Emergence of different EGP and working out of development prognoses;
-Specifying, examining  of prognoses and  appreciating their reliability;
-Appreciating the degree of exposition of national economic objects to EGP;
-Preparation of suggestion on protection from EGP and effective use of them;
-Improvement and development of supporting supervision network on studying of EGP, especially founding of private supervision network in order to solve of national economic issues;
-Preparation and employment of regular operated models with the purpose of prognostication of EGP (at first place in slide zone of Bayil and Mingachevir);
-Providing of all interesting organizations, at first place MES with prognostication information on the development of EGP;
Periodic supervisions in 165 points in the different districts of the Republic which EGP has developed and monitoring in nearly 30 slide zones having high riskiness degree are carried out.
According to the results of the supervisions special report (monthly, quarterly and yearly) is made and delivered to 15 organizations defined by Cabinet of Ministers.
Hydrogeological planning is carried out on order to determine the hydrogeological characters (watery complex and stratigraphic place of horizons, wateriness of the rocks, regime and quality of underground waters, physical-geological processes with regard to the activity of underground and surface waters, emergence of different relief forms and so on) of the territory of Hydrogeological planning.
43, 4% (37,3 thousand km2 ) of the territory of the Republic was covered with 1:200 000 scale state hydrogeological planning works, but all territory with the same scale engineer-geological planning and maps in relative scale were drawn up. The planning works of the same scale have been finished in the 7500 km2 distance of the southern-eastern part of the Republic ( between the limits of sheets of K-39-XXXII, XXXIII)  at present, the hydrogeological planning works of the said scale were started from 2007 in 2364 km2  area of the southern-eastern part of the Republic between the limits of sheet of J-39-II and the planning works were fulfilled. In the scale 1^200000 survey works on the territory of 490 km2 were completed in 2010. the boreholes by project depth 300 meters had drilled. Shortmetric boreholes (till 45 meters N№28, 29, 30, 31, 32 had direlled, trying water pumps are completed.)
Engineer-geological planning works with 1:50 000 scale were finished in current year in Davachi-Siyazan districts between the limits of sheet of K-39-99-B and the planning works were carried out in 70 km2 area. The exploring 34 boreholes, by depth 20-40 meters had drilled found underground water, from 25 boreholes carried out water pumps, the levee of water 0,8-3,0 meter and debit of them are 0,3-0,8 litr/ per second.
Complex hydrogeological and engineer-geological planning works with 1:200 000 and 1:50 000 scales were carried out correspondingly in 18,3 and 36,1 thousand square kilometers areas for land-reclamation purposes and covered all plots of land which were appropriated practically
