In 2010, allocation in the amount of 240000 manat was considered to the scientific - research works and research works have been carried out on 10 subjects.
The foundation date of the Mineral Raw – Material Scientific – Research Institute of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Sources of the Republic of Azerbaijan begins from 1967.
“Azerbaijan Laboratory” founded in 1967 in the structure of the Central Scientific – Research Geological – Exploration Institute (“SNIQRI – Moscow city) considering one of the main centers of the Ministry of Geology of Past USSR. Then, Azerbaijan Department of the Complex Investigations of SNIQRI, in 1980 Southern Methodological - Test (Examination) Group, in 1983 Southern Complex of Expedition had been registered in March, 1988 as Southern Branch of SNIQRI.
On the base of the Decision No. 263 dated on May 18, 1992 of the Cabinet Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, “YUCSNIQRI” Institute is attached to the Concern of “AZERDOVLETELVANMETAL” as State Scientific – Research Geological Exploration Administration of Colored and rare Metals.
In October, 1992, on the base of Institute, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in the Republic, “AZERDOVLET – ELVANMETAL” Company was founded for the first time. Azerbaijan State Scientific – Research, institute on project, rare and colored metals (“YUCSNIQRI”) is certified as structure of the company by the Decision of Cabinet Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In January, 2009, “AZERGIZIL”       SC was cancelled. Institute was attached to the “AZERDOVLETGEOLKOM” by the Decision of the Cabinet Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan as scientific – research organization; but in May, 2001, newly founded organization was attached to the Ministry of Ecology and natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a Mineral Raw – material Scientific – Research Institute.
It must be noted that, if this organization was engaged with the issued related with the rare and colored metals, being in the structure of the
AZERQIZIL” SC and Ministry of Geology of past USSR, after getting the status of the Mineral Raw – material Scientific – Research Institute, it was the rare specialized Scientific – Research Institute engaging with the geological issues of the any type of deposit of minerals in our country.
The main activity of the Institute consists of geology and geoeconomics, mining technology, geoecology, mathematical programming and physical – chemical investigations. These are determined as follows:

We should note that, estimation of the new technology methods of the deposits, extraction of the soft, colored and rare metals completely, applying the different technological methods (flotation, geotechnological, avtoklav, biological and alkalization) and examination of the structure of all types of material and mineralogical ores, the preparation of the forecasting criteria on the new scientific base and determination of the objects of structural and tectonic location, recalculation of the their reserves and forecasting resources, the analysis of the results of investigation – research, geophysical and geochemical works carried out before in the ore areas and deposits in the abroad of the Republic at present and in future in the scientific – research works of the Institute were drawn into the attention. In this issue, mineral raw material types are in the first place that meet the demands investigating the conjuncture of the world mineral and raw material market. In 2010 the main direction of the technological investigations was on the processing with the method of alkalization of copper and porphyry ores.
Last years, Institute was engaged with the forecasting estimation of the availability of gold in the territory of Azerbaijan in the geological and geoeconomics sphere and in 2001 – 2015 it took part in the processing of the main direction of the geological and Exploration works. Material – structural complex ore deposits settling the location and formation of the complex ore deposits with gold origin have been determined. Forecasting and metallogeny maps in the scale of 1:500000 and metallogeny in the scale of 1:1000000 to the gold of the territory of the republic. Perspective fields for carrying out the geological – Exploration and scientific – research works that should be carried out in 2001 – 2015 were selected and their sequence method and execution methods were determined.
Completely investigated ore areas in the perspective ore areas of the Small Caucasus metallogenic region have been analyzed, their forecasting resources have been estimated and recommendations about the direction of future geological – Exploration works to the National Geological – Exploration Service have been prepared;
the perceptivity of the central and southern – east part of Small Caucasus have been estimated to the metals of platinum group and research and forecasting criteria have been prepared. Perspective spheres were selected for the carrying out the geological – research, forecasting etc.works on PQM (Ofiolit strip of Small Caucasus and Upper Talish zone);
The availability conditions to the fragment gold of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has been prepared, the dolomite ores geological - economic estimation were estimated as magnesium etc. raw material sources of the products.
Boron combinations and industrial reserves of other elements have been estimated in the wastes of mud volcano of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Geological – economic division into districts of the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan been realized and relevant maps have been prepared in the scale of 1:500000 on the main minerals, in the primary examination of the deposits of soft and colored metals, methodological normative Recommendations on the geological – economic estimation, instructions about the carrying out the geological – research works stage by stage, Instructions on the carrying out the State Mapping works in the scale of 1:50000 and 1:25000 have been prepared; 
Most of Instructions on application of reserves of hard minerals deposits, classification of forecasting  resources and  on application of them to various ores (Au, Cu, Pb, Zn, Mo, Al, Mg, Fe, fragments) existing in Azerbaijan  are prepared.
Available basic  gold deposits of Azerbaijan (in sample of Qosha, Qizilbulaq, Daghkesemen deposits) have been re-estimated , prospectivity  of ore zones in laying and subsidence directions is determined, prospective areas have been  selected  and geologic-genetic and volumetric models of deposits have been made   for the purpose of calculating of forecasting reserves. These models can be used as a main sample in researching  of appropriate gold deposits of morphogenetic type, establishing of investigation systems and  forecasting  of  ore transformation in research-investigation stage.
For the first time “Mineragenic map” of Azerbaijan on a scale of  1:500000 in a geodynamic base has been prepared.  This map  will give an opportunity for forecasting of various types of minerals and carrying out geological-exploration works optimally.   Various geological maps of the territory of  Republic of Azerbaijan were prepared in 2005-2007 (“ map of deposits of  colored gold and nonferrous metals ”, “Map of non-metalliferous deposits”, “map of geological monuments”, “map of geological examination”, “Map on condition of carrying out of geological-exploration works and exploitation of minerals ).  Computer version of abovementioned maps is also considered.
In the result of mineralogical investigations carried out by specialists of MRSRI  molybdenum in Galajiq and Hamzali areas located in arc structure of  Duruca island of  Great  Caucasus, availability of gold  in black shale in Filfillichay, mineralization of Mo, Ni, Co in  Qonaqkend area  were determined and finally for the first time existence of 12-15%  arsenopyrite in sandy stones was observed.
Variants of opencast mining of  cooper–porphyry in mining area have been prepared.
In 2001-2007 specialists of Institute investigated conjecture of world`s mineral-raw material market in the technology field and conforming it with geological opportunities of our Republic, they explored technologies of processing and complex extraction  of magnesium from inexhaustible  dolomite deposits of Azerbaijan, boron from wastes of mud volcanoes and rare elements composing it and possibility of their  development have been investigated.  2 patents about “Method of Processing of dolomite”, “Complex method of processing of dolomite” were issued by State Agency on Standardization, Metrology and Patent of the Republic of Azerbaijan  on 28.02.2007  (No.20070044 and 20070045).
Methods tested on removing of some wastes of petrochemical and electronic industry, as well as household chemicals give opportunity for selection of soft metals as gold, silver and platinum, returning back to turnover and for  improvement of ecological conditions.
In the result of  preparation of technical processing scheme on extraction of gold from ores of Chovdar gold deposit,  their  mineral  composition and technological features were investigated.  Mineral composition and principle technological processing scheme  of gold conglomerates of oligocene  age of Ashabi Kahf group deposits of Nakhchivan AR have  been  estimated.
One of the important directions in the activity of the Institute is geoecological investigations. From this point, large-scale and accurate  geoecological works have been carried out in the Caspian shore region (coastal zone of  10 km), Big Baku and Sumgayit, Absheron peninsula, as well as in 0,5, 10, 15, 25, 50, 100, 200, and 300 depth of  water area of the Caspian Sea, in basin of the Kur river, in islands of Absheron and Baku archipelagos of the Caspian Sea, in water streams making drainage of   coastal area and running  into  the Caspian Sea, in lakes of Absheron.
Influence of enterprises and motor transports in pollution of environment with lead, zinc and other heavy, toxic  metals was determined.  Criteria  on determining of the level of stabilization of disordered ecological balance  in the system of atmosphere-hydrosphere-biosphere, recommendations and measures  on  environmental protection have been prepared.  Packet of ecoinformation on Azerbaijan  sector of the Caspian Sea and Caspian shore region has been prepared by Institute  for publication (with ecological-geochemical maps in English ).  Catalogue of ecoinformation has been prepared owing to investigations carried out by Institute in 2001-2005.
In the filed of mathematical programming works on  mathematical programming, support and application  of geological-geophysical and other issues   have been realized, corresponding programs have been drawn up. 
In the field of physical-chemical investigations element composition of silicate rocks and complex number, instrumental method in the field of physical-chemical,  chemical-analytical investigations of its molecular structure  have been worked out in 2 variants. Suggested method helps in decreasing of work material capacity of silicate analyze, its accuracy and in increasing of information value.
Thus, guiding by advanced experience of world countries and achievements of geological science in high scientific-practical level at  MRSRI, reasonable investigations have been realized and remarkable  achievements have been reached in the direction of evaluation of potential deposits and ore areas, in carrying out preventive  searching-forecasting, morphosturctural, mineralogical, technological  works. 
During passed years several scientific monographs and articles were published in different magazines  by specialists of Institute.  Certificates of authorship and patents have been obtained. “Russian-Azerbaijan-English dictionary of geological terms” (Authors: A.Aliyev, A.Karimov B.Mustafazade), “Azerbaijan-Russian-English-French explanatory dictionary of geological terms” on geology,  mining, metallogeny, excavation works (Authors: M.Mammadov, A.Aliyev, Y.Shirinov and others), “Fundamentals of production of Azerbaijan bentonite ” (Authors: H.H.Mukhtarov, Y.R.Shirinov); “Kedabek” (Authors: M.Mammadov, H.H.Mukhtarov, Y.R.Shirinov) monographs have been published. In 2007 “Methodical recommendations on ecological-chemical evaluation of pollution sources of environment ” was published. (Authors: M.Mammadov, S.Hajiyeva ) “ecological condition of native zones of Azerbaijan” (Authors: S.Hajiyeva, A.Karimov) was prepared for publishing.
