National Environmental Monitoring Department continued the activity in the country during the year 2010 on atmospheric air, precipitation, soil, surface waters, as well as environmental monitoring of radioactive contamination as a result of anthropogenic impacts on the environment assessment and forecasting processes, as well as the creation of the database on state of the environment have been prepared and their information in a broadcast mode of operation has provided.
Monitoring of air pollution were observed in the 26 stations located in 8 largest industrial cities - Baku, Sumgait, Ganja, Mingechevir, Shirvan, Nakhichevan, Sheki, Lankaran. During the year 2010 100343 samples taken on this urban air’s background composition and  specific harmful substances of each city and  102796 analysis carried out on 18 kinds of pollutants. 231 number             "Atmospheric air pollution levels and conditions on the natural radiation of environment"  daily bulletins according to air pollution level were prepared and delivered to state authorities on a regular basis and information posted on the website of the Ministry.
The monitoring on atmospheric precipitation’s chemical composition have been carried out in  21 polling stations located  in 6 regions - Absheron peninsula, in the Kura-Araz lowland, the Lesser Caucasus, Greater Caucasus in the north-east, the south slope area and Lankaran on 11 indicators (pH, sulfate, nitrate, phosphate, ammonia, chlorides, calcium , magnesium, roughness, electrical conductivity, and hydro ions). In 2010 year on 250 sample precipitation (rain, snow) have been carried out 2764 chemical analysis.
Surface water pollution monitoring on the 42 water objects (27 river, 4 water reservoir, 1 port, 10 lakes) were observed in 50 stations. Thus, in this direction 12375 physical-chemical analysis were carried out on the 640 water sample  on the detergents, oil products, phenols, organic oxidizing, organic chlorine pesticides, heavy metals, water mineral composition. On the basis of the results of monitoring prepared number 36 "10-day hydro chemical according to the situation of the pollution of transbourder Kura and Araz rivers", number 12 "Monthly hydro chemical on the surface water bodies " and delivered to state authorities on a regular basis and information posted on the website of the Ministry.
With the purpose to analyze background composition of soil, oil products, pesticides and heavy metals pollution in the country continued monitoring. In 2010 during the monitoring of land pollution 17099 chemical analysis were carried out on the 937 soil sample .
Daily observations on a environment radiation background, covering all regions of the country, have been carried out 3 times a day (at 09:00, 15:00, 18:00) in 36 polling stations. According to the results of measurements 231 bulletin were prepared and delivered to the state agencies and information daily posted on the website of the Ministry.
Observations have been carried out in the example of 3924 plan-tables taken  from Baku, Sumgait, Ganja, Lankaran, Guba, Nakhchivan, Aghjabadi, Aghstafa and Neft Dashlary on ß-radioactivity of the atmosphere aerosols on the basis of corresponding analysis.
On Nuclear Energy with International agency in frame of program of technical collaboration in boundary countries using from nucleus technologies  in Qazach, Sadarak (Nahchivan), Beylagan, Astara, Guba regions and Pirallahı island at meteorology stations on radiation background system of the supervision of automated monitoring has been assembled on this project "Developing of infrastructure in the monitoring of radioactive area in Azerbaijan Republic". İnformation of monitoring is passed to National Monitoring Departament on Environment of Ministry of  Ecology and Natural Resources and Crisis Situations Management Centre of Ministry of Emergency Situation every half an hour.
According to this order “Of the population connected with improve of  supply with clean water about some action from ecological peculiarity” of  the president of the Azerbaijan Republic purpose of provide ecological fresh water Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources  has been assembled modulus type devices and has given to use them to the more than 300 thousands populations in 156 settlements in 18 regions along the Kura – Aras and other settlements and in more than 63 regions modulus type device is continued assemble. Now days this work is continued in 29 villages of 18 regions which have more than 45 thousands population. According to 293 s numbered and 30 July 2010 dated of order of Cabinet of Ministries of Azerbaijan Republic on treaty which is concluded with Municipality devices have been provided with technical services.   Qualities of drinkable water of devices have been held in control and the same times checking of the quality of the water have been implemented by independent labs.

During current year 79 appeals has been entered with the help of the “Hot Line” to Department and 61 of them have been solved positively, 11 of them have been keep in control, 7 appeals have been sent for being considering on concerned.
